Nexteer Automotive is looking for an Entry-Level Accountant for the Technical Accounting and External Reporting Team.

To be successful in this position, a positive attitude, enthusiasm about learning, and taking on new and challenging assignments are a requirement.  Additionally, good communication skills are imperative as the candidate will be communicating with various groups in the organization including other employees, managers, and directors, both in the U.S and globally.  Nexteer applies International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), but previous experience with IFRS is not required.  This position provides consolidation and external reporting support to the Company, under the direction of the Technical Accounting and External Reporting Manager.  This position offers opportunity for personal growth and advancement within our company.

 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Prepare elimination entries for consolidation of trial balances for posting in Hyperion Financial Management (HFM)
  • Monitor post-closing adjustments and prepare trial balances adjusting journal entries, as necessary, for reporting in HFM
  • Monitor consolidation process including ensuring timely submission of sites trial balances and resolution of all intercompany imbalances
  • Ensure completion of the consolidation month-end activities
  • Maintain internal control documentation for consolidation, including control catalog, narratives, and process flowcharts
  • Create and maintain close and reporting calendars to inform parties of deadlines related to financial close and reporting, Board of Director and Audit Committee packages, and Earnings Announcements
  • Prepare semi-annual and annual disclosure checklist for compliance with all reporting requirements of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange and IASB
  • Assist in coordination of annual audit and semi-annual review activities with external auditors
  • Coordinate with various accounting resources to ensure to obtain support for external financial statements
  • Prepare semi-annual and annual consolidated financial statements, including Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Cash Flow, Statement of Changes in Equity, and related footnotes
  • Prepare clear and organized work papers that adequately support the Company’s filings and the internal/external audit process
  • Assist with routine and ad hoc technical accounting projects
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Speaking and Listening: Communicating with work team and customers
    • Sitting: The employee may be required to sit for extended periods of time

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

DEGREE: Bachelor Degree MAJOR: Accounting or Finance

  • Desire to become a CPA and/or CMA preferred
  • Strong US GAAP or IFRS accounting knowledge
  • Demonstrated high level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others
  • Demonstrated high level of analytical ability where problems are complex
  • Demonstrated high level of oral and written communication skills
  • Strong self-starting initiative and innovative attitude
  • Demonstrated ability to manage workflow and work efficiently to meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to interact and communicate effectively with all levels of personnel within the company
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent PC/computer skills
  • Minimum of 3 days per week in the Auburn Hills, MI office
