Job Description:


The Regional Commodity Manager for Semiconductors is an individual who is extremely strategic and forward thinking. An RCM is a subject matter expert, monitor market trends, develop sourcing strategy plans, and communicate commodity agreements and strategies globally. The RCM for Semiconductors will possess a demonstrated competence in negotiation, implementation of commodity strategies, and supplier assessments. 

Possesses the ability to understand and confidence to speak to technical details with engineering and the semiconductor supply base.

Main Responsibilities

  • Establish a cross-business / functional commodity team for the Semiconductors commodity. Work in a high performing Semiconductor/Electrical team to ensure Security of Supply of Optimal Costed Semiconductor Components for our next generation Electronic Modules
  • Lead current production cost reduction & new program sourcing globally for the commodities. In addition to Lead issuing RFQ’s to source Semiconductors for next generation electronic modules
  • Work collaboratively with all affected parties to seek input, common ground, and trust of the Commodity Team to maximize overall Nexteer impact.
  • Establish/strengthen Semiconductor supplier relationships, enabling Nexteer to better align with and influence supplier technology roadmaps.
  • Understand technical details and capabilities to make informed decisions and provide concrete recommendations for global strategy. 
  • Lead, manage and execute all data collection, validation, analysis, and negotiation activities for the semiconductor commodity.
  • Lead the negotiation and management of global strategic supplier contracts & approve any changes. Manage overall relationship for strategic suppliers.
  • Communicate commodity agreements and strategies to the business globally.
  • Develop company-wide commodity targets including cost reduction, LCE and consolidation targets.
  • Structure on-going “chip” supplier assessment and performance review meetings, monitor effectiveness of strategy, and make changes where appropriate.
  • Serve as a resource/expert for the commodities and provide hedging recommendations for consideration by the Treasury and Risk Management departments.
  • Benchmark procurement processes and, in conjunction with the global team, develop & implement best practices.
  • Monitor supply markets and trends and aggregate forecasts & global specifications.
  • Operate in a professional manner with the highest personal integrity.
  • Approve all sourcing decisions globally.
  • Communicate progress periodically to senior level managers within and outside the company.
  • Proactively communicate with top level management on supplier sourcing issues.


Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business-related or technical area. Technical experience and MBA preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong and effective relationships across technical and business teams globally
  • Demonstrated competence in negotiating skills, assessing suppliers and full understanding of the current supply chain environment.
  • Coordination, facilitation, consultation, and conflict resolution skills required.
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Demonstrated competence in developing & implementing commodity strategies.
  • Experience working in electronics company preferred.
  • Candidate must have 5+ years global experience managing the responsible commodities.
  • Hold regular Business reviews with suppliers
  • Leverage your extensive knowledge of data analytics, excel and presentation skills to execute business reviews and provide executive-ready communication quickly.
