The objective of the Student Programs at Nexteer Automotive is to select students with high potential and provide them with “real world” work experiences.  Work assignments expose students to many of the company’s products, processes, procedures, problems, resources, staff areas, and people so that they become aware of career opportunities at Nexteer Automotive.  Assignments are designed to assimilate acquired classroom education with actual hands-on experience in a technical environment.  In addition, Nexteer Automotive gains the opportunity to find talent to enhance productivity. 


Job Purpose:  To learn how to manage projects based on customer timing, learn how to conduct an audit based on a checklist, and practice taking meeting minutes.


Job Duties: 

  • Revise DFMEA documents (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Input DFMEA data to relational database and confirm accuracy
  • Transfer DFMEA projects from one region to another using a checklist
  • Transfer DFMEA certification exam questions from current location to the Nexteer learning system and administrate exams (keep track of who has achieved what level of certification, order awards for certifications)

  • Communication skills (written and oral) 
  • Technical presentation skills
  • Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) competency; Office 365 (Outlook Mail, Calendars, Drive) competency
  • Product drawing familiarity
  • Aptitude for electronics and software technical discussions
  • Must be attending U of M Flint, Delta, Northwood or SVSU 
  • Must be studying Engineering Technology, Business Administration; Education or related field
  • In-state travel may be required
  • Candidate must have right to work in the US and not require current or future sponsorship
  • Candidate must have cumulative 3.0 GPA
  • Candidate must be able to work 20-32 hours per week during the Fall and Winter semesters
    • Up to 40 hours per week in summer
