The Nexteer Automotive EPS Core Mechanical engineering team continues to grow as we are working to support current product lines and development new technology. The Core Mechanical team is responsible for developing/maintaining the core building blocks for Nexteer EPS mechanical systems, while also supporting the creation of innovative designs. The Mechanical Component Owner Engineer is responsible for the integration of mechanical component design into EPS product lines and will work closely with Manufacturing and Application teams to continuously improve our products. This will consist of understanding the customer’s requirements, developing and testing designs, collaborating with suppliers, and creating the DFMEA, DSS, and prints for the components or assemblies the engineer is responsible for.



  • Responsible for the design and analysis of mechanical components
  • Complete DFMEA, DSS, and product prints
  • Complete dimensional limit stack analysis
  • Provide technical support for project teams through leading meetings and being an active member of meetings
  • Lead internal and external design reviews for responsible components
  • Support the communication of project status to internal and external customers
  • Complete validation of components. Document and present test results
  • Apply concurrent engineering principles
  • Support Global Supply Management and supplier development activities



Degree: Bachelor

Major: Mechanical Engineering

  • 5+ years of Experience
  • Casting design and processes (preferred)
  • High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult
  • High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others
  • Eagerness to learn and dig deep into problems to arrive at a technical solution
  • Excellent oral & written communication skills
  • Knowledge in automotive engineering design processes and/or tooling and manufacturing processes preferred
  • Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
  • Ability to perform dimensional limit stack analysis
  • Knowledge of DFMEA and Design Severity Sensitivity analysis and able to perform the analysis
  • Demonstrated understanding of functional roles important to project delivery, especially product & manufacturing engineering, prototyping, testing, purchasing, quality and marketing
  • Demonstrated technical knowledge of vehicle steering systems preferred
  • Ability to evaluate various technology alternatives to achieve project goals, especially design - process trade offs
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects and coordinate multi-functional activities
  • Strong supporter of concurrent engineering – Customer focused
  • Demonstrated commitment for disciplined approach to project management
  • Knowledge / Expertise in the following:  Microsoft Office, Problem Solving Techniques; Optional: Matlab, CAD software, CAE
