The objective of the Student Programs at Nexteer Automotive is to select students with high potential and provide them with "real world" work experiences. Work assignments expose students to many of the company’s products, processes and procedures. Assignments are designed to assimilate acquired classroom education with actual hands-on work experience in a technical environment. In addition, Nexteer Automotive gains the opportunity to find new talent to enhance productivity while providing students exposure to full-time career opportunities.

 

Job Requisition Introductory Paragraph:

We are looking for an integral member to work with our Advanced Manufacturing Engineering group. This position involves many opportunities for data analysis, problem solving, creative thinking, and interaction with Operations, Manufacturing and Product Engineering teams.  The ideal candidate would have experience with time series data acquisition, digital signal processing, statistical data analysis and computer programming.

 

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop PowerBI reports for analysis of data collected from sensors (vibration, force, etc)
  • Develop PowerBI reports for End of Line Function test data
  • Develop Labview programs to acquire and analyze data from IIOT devices and sensors on production equipment
  • Coordinate installation of industrial computers and sensors on production machines
  • Develop Python and R programs for advanced data analysis including data mining and regression analysis
  • Develop CNC programs and collect vibration and force data from CNC machines in Manufacturing development lab
  • Communicate with all stakeholders, supervisors, engineers, skilled trades, etc. to meet customer needs
  • Possible that some work can be done remotely

 

Requirements:

  • Candidate must be attending a 2-year college or 4-year university local to Saginaw
  • Candidate must be pursuing a Bachelors in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
  • Candidate must be able to work 20-32 hours during Fall and Winter semesters
    • Up to 40 in the summer
  • Must have cumulative 2.7 GPA on 4.0 scale
  • Must be a full-time student (12 or more credits) during Fall and Winter semesters
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Good computer programming and data analysis skills
  • Working knowledge of Labview, PowerBI, R and Python software preferred
  • Knowledge of digital signal data acquisition and processing preferred
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Standing:  While working with production equipment
    • Sitting:  Office environment, working at a computer, meetings
    • Speaking & Listening:  Communicating with work team, suppliers, customers
    • Walking/Mobility:  For walking around the manufacturing plants, and office areas.
    • Lifting:  ability to occasionally lift large tooling and parts no heavier than 20 lbs.
  • Candidate must have right to work in the US and not require current or future sponsorship
