We are looking for a highly motivated individual who is committed to the Health and Safety of all Nexteer workers by optimizing the human-workplace interface. This position in Corporate Health and Safety is for an individual who will act as the Nexteer global ergonomic expert supporting Central Engineering in new equipment and workplace designs as well as assisting the manufacturing plants in ergonomic program implementation. Additionally, this individual will maintain Corporate ergonomic specifications, checklists, job analysis tools and ergonomic program documents as well as provide ergonomics training globally.





  • Maintain Ergonomics Design-In Guidelines SD-017 and 7 Design-In Ergonomics Checklists, review and revise periodically as needed.
  • Create and maintain ergonomic quick reference and supplemental guides summarizing checklists and guidelines.
  • Assist Central Engineering in ergonomic analysis and issue resolution for new programs as needed.
  • Assist global manufacturing plants in ergonomic analysis and issue resolution for existing workstations as needed.
  • Mentor Central Engineering Industrial Engineers and plant Ergonomics Representatives in use of ergonomics analysis tools and guidelines
  • Periodically review new ergonomic products and technology including material handling, PPE and office furniture, communicating to the organization as necessary.
  • Periodically review new ergonomic research and analysis tools, adopt and train on use as necessary.
  • Maintain Corporate Ergonomics website and utilize Yammer as an ergonomics communication tool
  • Conduct annual Nexteer Ergo Cup competition using Ergonomic Lessons Learned to share ergonomic solutions across the corporation and participate in International Ergo Cup competitions.
  • Develop and provide training on ergonomics specifications, checklists and analysis tools for both classroom training and online training in SuccessFactors



Job Requirements:


Required Skills


  • 3+ years of EH&S or manufacturing operations experience
  • Understanding of Lean concepts so that types of waste can be identified and eliminated, particularly those that relate to ergonomic risk factors such as waste of motion and overproduction.
  • Understanding of the basic Industrial Engineering concepts of time motion study, material movement and process flow, particularly as a basis for the utilization of ergonomic analysis tools to identify and reduce or eliminate ergonomic risk factors.
  • Ability to accurately read and understand part, machine and layout prints to identify ergonomics risk factors in new and existing designs.
  • Understanding of human anatomy and physiology to identify and evaluate activities that may result in musculoskeletal disorders.
  • Understanding of Anthropometry (science of body measurement) and be able to demonstrate its use in new workplace design.
  • Proficiency in the use of ergonomic analysis tools such as NIOSH Lifting Guidelines, Energy Expenditure, Liberty Mutual Push/Pull/Carry tables, Strain Index, Hand Activity Level, Rapid Upper Limb Assessment, Risk Factor Checklist, Office Ergo Checklist, 3D Static Strength Prediction Program as well as other internationally recognized tools as they are developed.
  • Proficiency in completing office ergonomic analysis
  • Ability to accurately use analysis measurement tools such as force gauges, goniometers and light meters.
  • Ability to read and interpret scientific research papers
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office and SharePoint including website maintenance.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with and lead others globally as part of a team


Preferred Skills



  • Experience in a union environment
  • Board Certification of Professional Ergonomists, CEA or CEP or willingness to become certified



Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Science Related Degree
