The objective of the Student Programs at Nexteer Automotive is to select students with high potential and provide them with "real world" work experiences. Work assignments expose students to many of the company’s products, processes and procedures. Assignments are designed to assimilate acquired classroom education with actual hands-on work experience in a technical environment. In addition, Nexteer Automotive gains the opportunity to find new talent to enhance productivity while providing students exposure to full-time career opportunities.


Job Requisition Introductory Paragraph:

This position will allow the Student to assist with data analysis of benefit related information.  Position could include on-line access to benefit enrollment and employment information.    Student will assist with the benefit related data analysis and communications.  In this position, the Student will have the opportunity to work with upper-level management and enhance their leadership and communication skills. Student may be asked to complete other miscellaneous tasks as they arise. 


Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist Benefit Department with administrative work, including spouse reverification audit.  Candidate will be required to review verification forms for compliance, document within excel the status of submissions, prepare and distribute communications to employees regarding their verification status (approved, denied, or not submitted). 
  • Assist Benefit Department with audits and data analysis of other benefit related material; 401(k), benefit enrollment, HMO incentives, etc.
  • Document benefit processes.  Current processes are in various note formats.  Candidate will document these notes into a formalized process document and confirm the process with the Benefit Dept Team members.
  • Prepare communications/flyers regarding benefit services and requirements; eg. weekly benefit reminders for the Nexteer Insider communication.
  • Candidate with power point and/or graphics skills will be asked to re-evaluate benefit communications for a more “up to date” look; Benefits at a Glance
  • This role will be from May – August, with possibility to be extended ongoing into Fall/Winter and beyond within Benefits or other Human Resource Departments.
  • This role will be primarily virtual, with the possibility of on-site meetings once every two weeks.
  • Candidate will be working with confidential information and will have a variety of work exposure opportunities.



  • Candidate must be attending a 2 year college or a 4 year university local to Saginaw.
  • Candidate must be pursuing a Bachelors in Business, Communications, Graphics Design, or Marketing.
  • Candidate must be able to work 20-32 hours during Fall and Winter semesters
    • Up to 40 in the summer
  • Must have cumulative 3.0 GPA on 4.0 scale
  • Must be a full-time student (12 or more credits) during Fall and Winter semesters
  • Candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Familiarity with Powerpoint and/or graphics preferred
  • Candidate must be self motivated
  • Candidate will be considered a member of the Human Resources team and will be required to keep matters confidential and hold a high-level of integrity when dealing with various situations
  • Candidate must have excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Candidate must have right to work in the US and not require current or future sponsorship
