Job Description:

 

This position performs Human Resources Business Partner related duties for the plants in the drive line business unit.  The position will maintain high visibility within the operations and will provide HR leadership and generalist expertise, input and assistance to both the Plant Management Team, the UAW and local HR team to ensure consistency and that HR standards are met with regard to all HR management practices, guidelines and procedures.  A variety of special projects will be assigned to this role to help support the plant’s continued organizational transformation.

 

  1. Health & Safety: Support the implementation of Health & Safety Programs to maintain employee wellness and organizational stability.
  2. Employee & Labor Relations:
    1. Advises management of proper interpretation of the laws and regulations, local collective bargaining agreement, grievance settlements, statements, letters, etc.
    2. Being aware of issues involved in maintaining positive relationships with front line leadership and union representatives
    3. Participates in local bargaining and grievance procedures
    4. Coordinates employee movement programs
    5. Conducts special investigations as needed
    6. Assures implementation of new labor agreements
    7. Planning and implementing sound downsizing and outplacement programs when required
  3. Organizational Effectiveness: Impact Organizational effectiveness by providing leadership in managing cultural change within an organization undergoing significant transformation.
  4. Communications: Develop and implement an effective two-way employee communications program that fosters understanding of key business and HR issues.
  5. Policies & Procedures: Work with the Manufacturing Managers and the Divisional HR to communicate various human resource policies and procedures.
  6. Training & Development: Identifying and analyzing employee training and development needs; planning cost effective training activities to meet the needs of current and future organization.
  7. Onboarding: Conduct new employee onboarding and orientation
  8. Workforce Management, assist in employee reviews and redeployment
  9. Recruitment & Selection: Identify Drive Lines HR needs, track open and pending requisitions, apply recruitment and selection practices to meet those needs. 
  10. HR Planning & Programs: Develop and support HR systems, programs and processes which support the business strategies and address the unique challenges facing the Drive Line Business Unit. 
  11. Compensation & Benefits: Implement fair, equitable and leading-edge compensation, benefits and other reward systems that serve to attract, motivate and retain employees.
  12. Employee Engagement: Work with employees to continue to enhance employee engagement and wellness activities.
  13. HR Analytics: Provide the type of employee data and analytics that Drive Line requires to effectively manage the business. 
  14. Value-Added Perspective: As a member of the North America HR leadership team, take advantage of opportunities for the HR function to deliver value-added services and programs in support of the business; communicate to management how HR can contribute to the organization. 
     



Requirements:

 

  1. Bachelor’s Degree preferred, preferably in Human Resources, Labor Relations, Business, or Communications. Or relevant experience.
  2. Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably a Tier One automotive parts supplier.
  3. Professionalism both internal and external to Nexteer Automotive
  4. Operates with high level of integrity
  5. Takes calculated risks by taking action under conditions of uncertainty
  6. Effective negotiation skills
  7. Maintains objectivity with clear perception of organizational and political reality
  8. Team management skills to accomplish organizationally driven team-oriented tasks
  9. Analytical skills to interpret various agreements and complex issues.
  10. High level of interpersonal and conflict resolution skills to work effectively with others
  11. Must prepare contractual language
  12. Can research, develop, and write grievance answers, settlements and reports
  13. Experience working in a single position HR environment
  14. Ability to prioritize and work under pressure
  15. Strong computer literacy with Windows, MS Excel, MS Word, and Internet
  16. High level of discretion, confidentiality and work ethics 
  17. Excellent organization, communication and presentation skills
  18. Ability to successfully manage several activities and process in a fast pace environment
  19. Must be able to deliver world-class customer service to our employees

 

Reporting Relationship:

 

  1. Reports directly to the Human Resources Manager as part of his/her staff
  2. Dotted functional line to the Manufacturing Manager
