The objective of the Student Programs at Nexteer Automotive is to select students with high potential and provide them with "real world" work experiences. Work assignments expose students to many of the company’s products, processes and procedures. Assignments are designed to assimilate acquired classroom education with actual hands-on work experience in a technical environment. In addition, Nexteer Automotive gains the opportunity to find new talent to enhance productivity while providing students exposure to full-time career opportunities.

 

Job Requisition Introductory Paragraph:

This position will allow the Student to assist with programming and support of the database IT systems. Position includes on-line training coordination, database maintenance, and helping to launch new technologies in IT space.  Student would assist with the monitoring of plant floor data flow. Student will have the opportunity to work with upper-level management and enhance their leadership skills. Student would be asked to complete other miscellaneous tasks as they arise. 

 

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist supervisor in any administrative work
  • Support data loads from computer systems to Database
  • Support Reporting system and create Data visualizations and data querying through SQL.
  • Support programming of the tools that allows data integrity error proofing.
  • Communicate with the plant personnel on the upcoming data load needs and resolve any daily issues.
  • Create and maintain SQL scripts for the data loads.

 

Requirements:

  • Candidate must be attending a 4-year university local to Saginaw
  • Candidate must be pursuing a degree in Computer Science
  • Candidate must be able to work 20-32 hours during Fall and Winter semesters
    • Up to 40 in the summer
  • Must be a full-time student (12 or more credits) during Fall and Winter semesters
  • Must have cumulative 3.0 GPA on 4.0 scale
  • Knowledge of computer programs (Microsoft Office, etc)
  • Basic knowledge of Relational Database Systems.
  • Knowledge of computer hardware (system integration)
  • Ability to learn computer system integration
  • Detail oriented – will verify that data is loading properly by reviewing daily reports and will adjust traceability application configuration to load data when necessary.
  • Learn SQL Server Management Studio environment and SQL Server scripting.  Develop scripts to improve the maintenance of traceability tables.
  • Candidate must have right to work in the US and not require current or future sponsorship
