The Electric Power Steering (EPS) Application Engineering group at Nexteer Automotive is looking for an experienced Printed Circuit Board Design Supervisor who is eager to work in a team environment creating circuit board designs for EPS applications.  This position will be involved with the design and layout of printed circuit boards including schematic capture, PCB size optimization, PCB layer stack up, trace routing and interconnects in addition to creating and maintaining all design documents.

Major Job Responsibilities:

  • Supervise / Lead a group of ECAD Designers to design PCB from concept to production level applications. This requires interactions with the Customer, Program Managers, Regional teams, Powerpack DRE, Powerpack CCA Engineers, Electrical Hardware Integration Engineer, PHA Engineers, EMC Engineers, and Continuous Improvement Engineers.
  • Complete IPC compliant production intent PCB layouts for program specific applications
  • Provide technical guidance and expertise in PCB designs when needed in all regions.
  • Manage workloads in 3 separate regions (China, Poland, US) so that no regions get overloaded, administer annual performance reviews to employees.
  • Hold and conduct a weekly ECAD Matched pair meeting about workloads and ECAD released issues and standards.
  • Utilize ECAD workload tracker for all ECAD and Librarian released work.
  • Hold a weekly ECAD design peer review and document issues that are found as lessons learned.
  • Lead in diagnosing and correcting process/procedural issues identified during PCB design development, implementation and production support
    • Forward thinking to see bottlenecks in upstream processes in other groups such as MCAD and EE groups and be motivated to find creative solutions to meet customer timing.
  • Support cost savings initiatives by allocating appropriate team resources
  • Ability to Create/maintain a strong team environment within the group while driving strategic goal attainment within the EPS team and the Nexteer organization
  • Establish processes and procedures to aid in the standardizing the project activities for each application.
  • Track key deliverables and implement corrective actions where needed
  • Create/Maintain Controller Lessons Learned from issues, put in process procedural changes so we have no repeat issues.
  • Recruit, hire and train staff as needed

 

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience with printed circuit board design and layouts
  • Preferred 3 years’ supervisory experience
  • Experience with Cadence OrCAD PCB layout tools is a Plus
  • Experience with Mentor Graphics Board Station is a Plus
  • Experience with DFM software such as Valor or EasyLogix PCB Investigator Ultimate/Physics
  • Experience with IPC design rules for both FR4 and Flexible circuits
  • Experience with CAD drawing formats and tools
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft products (PowerPoint, Word, etc.)

Preferred:

  • Understanding of basic automotive electrical circuit design
  • Understanding of basic EMC principles pertaining to printed circuit boards
  • Experience with thermal management of a printed circuit board
  • Understanding of PCB manufacturing process
  • Understanding of EMS manufacturing processes
  • Experience with the MS Windows operating system

Education:

Bachelor – Electrical Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology with board layout experience
