The objective of the Student Programs at Nexteer Automotive is to select students with high potential and provide them with "real world" work experiences. Work assignments expose students to many of the company’s products, processes, procedures, problems, resources, staff areas and people so that they become aware of the career opportunities at Nexteer Automotive. Assignments are designed to assimilate acquired classroom education with actual hands-on work experience in a technical environment. In addition, Nexteer Automotive gains the opportunity to find new talent to enhance productivity.

 

Nexteer Automotive is looking for a candidate that is in an embedded software, or electrical engineering path. Candidate must have the ability to work well with team members to develop, review and implement complex software applications. This position requires an individual that is detail orientated, results driven, highly motivated with an application requirements focus.

 

Job Description:

  • Support embedded software development activities.
  • Support electrical hardware development activities.
  • Create pc based applications using languages such as Python Java, and C++
  • Pursing a Bachelor's degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering/Computer Engineering/Computer Science
  • Candidate must be able to work 20-32 hours during Fall and Winter semesters
    • Up to 40 per week in the summer
  • Candidate must attend Saginaw Valley State University
  • Must have cumulative 2.7 GPA
  • Must be a full-time student (12 or more credits)
  • Candidate must have right to work in the US and not require current or future sponsorship

 

Job Requirements:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills (English)
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Ability to learn quickly on the job

 

Preferred:

  • Experience with software coding using different languages (C / C++, Python, Java)
  • Experience with debugging and problem resolution
  • Experience with cross compilers and cross assemblers
  • Experience with 8-bit, 16-bit or 32-bit microcontrollers and common peripherals (i.e., ADC, SPI)
  • Familiarity with software development techniques and methodologies
  • Familiarity with serial communications development and debugging (i.e., CAN)
  • Familiarity with standard software development environments (IDE)
  • Familiarity with Matlab / Simulink
  • Familiarity with soldering techniques
  • Proficient with Microsoft office tools (Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Visio)
