The objective of the Student Programs at Nexteer Automotive is to select students with high potential and provide them with "real world" work experiences. Work assignments expose students to many of the company’s products, processes and procedures. Assignments are designed to assimilate acquired classroom education with actual hands-on work experience in a technical environment. In addition, Nexteer Automotive gains the opportunity to find new talent to enhance productivity while providing students exposure to full-time career opportunities.


Job Requisition Introductory Paragraph:

This position will allow the Student to assist with balancing supply and demand across the global semi-conductor supply chain supporting Nexteer’s Electric Power Steering business.  Position will include interacting with Nexteer plants, suppliers, and Nexteer engineering.  Student will assist with gathering and analyzing supply chain data primarily using MS Excel. In this position, the Student will have the opportunity to work with upper-level management, Nexteer’s plants across the globe, and suppliers through multiple tiers of the supply chain. This position encompasses “hands on” experience with difficult business issues and will enhance leadership skills. Student will be trained and mentored to identify, diagnose, and remedy supply chain disconnects.


Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist supervisor in gathering and analyzing data
  • Learn how to diagnose issues and take appropriate action to correct
  • Participate in development of information system to streamline and automate data flows
  • Have some involvement with OEM customer communication as necessary to communicate risk of production interruption
  • Collate and communicate long term forecasts to supply base using MS Excel



  • Candidate must be attending a 2 year college or 4 year university local to Saginaw
  • Candidate must be pursuing a Bachelors in Supply Chain, Operations, Finance, or Engineering
  • Candidate must be able to work 20-32 hours during Fall and Winter semesters
    • Up to 40 in the summer
  • Must have cumulative 3.0 GPA on 4.0 scale
  • Must be a full-time student (12 or more credits) during Fall and Winter semesters
  • Flexible scheduling 
  • Candidate must have right to work in the US and not require current or future sponsorship
