Nexteer is looking for a business minded proven Leader with experience in managing Global Commodity strategies, Cost Management, and engineering matched pair cost reduction initiatives. This position offers the right candidate the ability to interface with various functions within Nexteer as well as with suppliers.  The ideal candidate will have experience in the area of Leadership Development, and/or Management of commodity strategies, and/or commercial relationships related to the disciplines required to disrupt and achieve market positions required by the product lines. Additionally, they must have the ability to map the cost associated with processes involved in manufacturing of purchased parts, possess high knowledge manufacturing operations, and a thorough understanding of activity-based costing principles.  As we have suppliers located throughout the world, there is also opportunity for international and domestic travel.

 

This position could be located in Auburn Hills, MI or European Region (Tychy, Poland; Paris, France or Russelsheim, Germany).


Main Responsibilities

  • Lead current production cost reduction & new program sourcing globally for the commodities.
  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies to leverage Nexteer’s global buy and optimize total supplier performance (cost, quality, delivery, and technology).
  • Understand technical details and capabilities to make informed decisions and provide concrete recommendations for global strategy. 
  • Lead, manage and execute all data collection, validation, analysis, and negotiation activities for the commodities.
  • Lead the negotiation and management of global strategic supplier contracts & approve any changes. Manage overall relationship for strategic suppliers.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain global sourcing strategies.
  • Develop company-wide commodity targets including cost reduction, LCE and consolidation targets.
  • Structure ongoing supplier assessments and performance review meetings, monitor effectiveness of strategies, and make changes where appropriate.
  • Serve as a resource/expert for the commodities and provide hedging recommendations for consideration by the Treasury and Risk Management departments.
  • Benchmark procurement processes and, in conjunction with the global team, develop & implement best practices.
  • Monitor supply markets and trends and aggregate forecasts & global specifications.
  • Operate in a professional manner with the highest personal integrity.
  • Approve all sourcing decisions globally.

 

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business-related or technical area
  • 10+ years global experience managing the responsible commodities, with global team management experience are preferred.
  • Experience in Operations/Engineering Management and activity based costing disciplines, including Ground Up costing development are plus.
  • Professional cross culture verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Experienced in Semiconductor manufacturing (Wafer Fabs + Front and Back End process)
  • Ability to analyze data directly from the ERP system (BAAN, Oracle, SAP etc)
  • Willingness to take measured risks and challenge status quote, to develop break through creative solution, with limited information and limited time.
  • Ability to read blueprints and assess manufacturing feasibility.
  • High analytical ability in complex situations
  • Coordination, facilitation, consultation, and conflict resolution skills required.
  • Demonstrated competence in negotiating skills and assessing suppliers.
