The objective of the Student Programs at Nexteer Automotive is to select students with high potential and provide them with "real world" work experiences. Work assignments expose students to many of the company’s products, processes and procedures. Assignments are designed to assimilate acquired classroom education with actual hands-on work experience in a technical environment. In addition, Nexteer Automotive gains the opportunity to find new talent to enhance productivity while providing students exposure to full-time career opportunities.

 

Introductory Paragraph:

This position will allow the Student to assist with computer-based logistical pre-launch and/or post-launch activities for innovative programs.  Position could include working with ME’s on Manufacturing Simulation, on-line training coordination, and helping to launch new technologies.  Student would assist with the monitoring of several other key logistical and supply management elements to insure perfect launch of various platforms. In this position, the Student will have the opportunity to work with upper-level management and enhance their leadership skills. Student would be asked to complete other miscellaneous tasks as they arise. 

 

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and update computer applications, spreadsheets, databases, etc... to track program launch data and operational documentation
  • Enter data into existing applications to support current operational processes enable future developmental enhancements
  • Manufacturing simulation (Siemens Plant Simulation & Process Simulation):
  • Perform CAD data preparation
  • Develop simulation code
  • Assist with creating simulation models
  • Interfacing with Industrial Engineering group during model development

 

Requirements:

  • Candidate must be attending a 4-year University with training in Manufacturing Simulation
  • Candidate must be pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Computer Science
  • Must be a self-starter and capable of completing tasks with minimal guidance
  • Previous experience with either Plant Simulation or Process Simulate is required
  • Candidate must have good internet connectivity because of working remotely (Virtual)
  • Candidate must be able to work up to 40 hours
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.7 GPA on 4.0 scale
  • Candidate must be able to work in the US without current or future sponsorship
