The objective of the Student Programs at Nexteer Automotive is to select students with high potential and provide them with "real world" work experiences. Work assignments expose students to many of the company’s products, processes, procedures, problems, resources, staff areas and people so that they become aware of the career opportunities at Nexteer Automotive. Assignments are designed to assimilate acquired classroom education with actual hands-on work experience in a technical environment. In addition, Nexteer Automotive gains the opportunity to find new talent to enhance productivity.

 

Major Job Responsibilities:

 

  • Assignment is to support assembly and test equipment to manufacture automotive products.
  • Support existing controls engineering staff to trouble and/or improve assembly equipment machine controls hardware and software.
  • Support installation & start-up of new tooling and stations on the equipment for planned changes to add automation and design changes.
  • Communicate with all stakeholders, supervisors, engineers, skilled trades, etc. to meet operations and customer needs.

 

Job Requirements:

 

  • Candidate must be pursuing a Bachelors in Electrical Engineering
  • Candidate must attend local university
    • If attending SVSU, must enroll in SVSU Co-op Program through Cardinal Career Network
  • Interest in machine controls  ( PLC, cameras, barcode scanners, testing systems)
  • Prefer some existing knowledge of labview or other test software
  • High level of analytical skills, interpersonal skills and teamwork
  • Must have cumulative 2.7 GPA
  • Must be a full-time student (12 or more credits)
  • Candidate must have right to work in the US and not require current or future sponsorship
