We are looking for experienced halfshaft (constant velocity joint) engineering candidates who are eager to work in a team environment that is both analytical and hands on. Product application engineers are assigned to a vehicle program and become the program expert. Every day is different depending on the phase of program implementation. Candidates have the opportunity to see the entire life cycle, including customer interface, of their assigned program from conception to production due to Nexteer’s vertical integration and having world class test and validation facilities on site. Candidates have the ability to utilize their strengths and grow within the Product Engineering organization as well as being able to move to other functional staffs within Nexteer. Positions are available in the following product lines: Halfshafts. 


This position is located in Saginaw, MI. For the right candidate, we offer a generous relocation package. 


Job Description: 

  • Lead halfshaft product application and CV design analysis and process
  • Develop and design products to meet customer requirements
  • Coordinate procurement of prototype components, build and test of hoses to demonstrate technology to potential Customers
  • Represent Nexteer Engineering to support current customer applications and develop new potential opportunities
  • On-time delivery of projects while meeting or exceeding all initial project criteria
  • Coordinate change management activities for assigned responsibilities utilizing CPI
  • Timely communication of project status and relevant issues
  • Direct lab and vehicle validation to ensure durability and reliability of products
  • Maintain safety and good housekeeping
  • Conduct meetings; provide technical support for project teams or plant operations
  • Regular contact with others outside the work group
  • Coordinate with vendors and customers
  • Apply concurrent engineering principles
  • Support continuous improvement activities
  • Accept other job responsibilities as needed



    Job Requirements:

  • Driveline/Halfshaft engineering experience (Preferred)
  • Demonstrated understanding of functional roles important to project delivery, especially product & manufacturing engineering, prototyping, testing, purchasing, quality and marketing
  • High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult
  • High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others
  • Knowledge of principles of project management
  • Knowledge of the product design process and/or tooling and manufacturing processes preferred
  • Ability to evaluate various technology alternatives to achieve project goals, especially design - process trade offs
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects and coordinate multi-functional activities
  • Strong supporter of concurrent engineering. Customer focused.
  • Demonstrated commitment for disciplined approach to project management
  • Excellent oral & written skills
  • Demonstrated skill in problem solving and root cause analysis
  • Design for Six Sigma, Shainin Red X or Six Sigma Greenbelt (preferred)
  • General understanding of vehicle ride dynamics (Preferred)
  • Strong computer application experience in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Global travel required



Education: Bachelor - Mechanical Engineering

Minimum cumulative GPA requirement of 2.7

Must be able to work in the US without sponsorship.
