The objective of the Student Programs at Nexteer Automotive is to select students with high potential and provide them with "real world" work experiences. Work assignments expose students to many of the company’s products, processes and procedures. Assignments are designed to assimilate acquired classroom education with actual hands-on work experience in a technical environment. In addition, Nexteer Automotive gains the opportunity to find new talent to enhance productivity while providing students exposure to full-time career opportunities.


Job Requisition Introductory Paragraph:

This position will allow to the Student to create VBA Macros in excel or other computer programs to aid in costing of our Electronic control units (ECU).  Position includes interfacing with buyers, and suppliers of electronic components and helping streamline ECU costing process through programming. Student would assist in the formation of a component costing database.  In this position, the Student will have the opportunity to work with upper-level management and enhance their leadership skills. Student would be asked to complete other miscellaneous tasks as they arise. 


Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Create new and/or enhance existing computer applications, programs, spreadsheets, databases, etc. to automate costing of ECU, wire harness, and other components.
  • Support embedded software development activities.
  • Gather data from the web and other sources to improve our internal component cost database.



  • Candidate must be attending a 4 year University in pursuit of a Bachelors Degree.
  • Candidate must be studying Bachelors in Business, Computer Science or Engineering.
  • High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects and coordinate multiple activities
  • Good oral & written skills
  • Knowledge / Expertise in the following:  Microsoft Office Excel and PowerPoint
  • Candidate must have right to work in the US and not require current or future sponsorship
