The objective of the Student Programs at Nexteer Automotive is to select students with high potential and provide them with "real world" work experiences. Work assignments expose students to many of the company’s products, processes and procedures. Assignments are designed to assimilate acquired classroom education with actual hands-on work experience in a technical environment. Nexteer Automotive is offering an exciting summer student opportunity for motivated and organized individuals interested in supply chain risk management, sustainability (ESG), data analytics, and business process improvement.
This role is ideal for students who enjoy working at the intersection of business needs, data, and digital tools, and who are eager to take ownership of meaningful work while learning how global organizations manage supplier risk and sustainability.
As part of the Global Supply Management organization, you will support initiatives that improve how Nexteer identifies, analyzes, and responds to supply chain, risk, and ESG challenges.
What You Will Work On
Supply Chain Risk Management (SCRM)
- Support adoption and continuous improvement of Nexteer’s Supply Chain Risk Management tools, including internal systems and third‑party platforms
- Own day‑to‑day SCRM system improvement activities such as bug identification, tracking, and coordination of issue resolution
- Conduct risk case investigations and analyses using data from multiple sources, and support troubleshooting efforts
- Assist with system master data maintenance and user access administration
Analytics & Reporting
- Help map and integrate data feeds from multiple sources into Supplier Risk PowerBI dashboards and supplier management platforms
- Design and build PowerBI dashboards and reports for defined use cases, either independently or in collaboration with the Business Intelligence team
- Incorporate feedback from business stakeholders to improve usability and relevance of reporting
ESG & Sustainability
- Assist with supplier engagement related to ESG topics, including emissions and Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) data collection
- Research and support integration of supplier ESG data into sourcing processes and supplier scorecards
- Lead analysis of supplier emissions data and develop insights and recommendations that support Nexteer’s sustainability roadmap
Procurement Intelligence & Vendor Engagement
- Conduct supplier and market research to support procurement and sourcing decisions
- Collaborate with Product Line Purchasing Managers and Global Commodity Managers on procurement intelligence activities
- Support vendor evaluations and engage external vendors to address internal questions and data requests
Digitalization & Process Improvement
- Support digitalization initiatives aimed at improving data quality, reporting, and workflow efficiency
- Assist with process documentation, analysis, and continuous improvement efforts across Risk, ESG, and Procurement
- Assist with project scoping and product requirements documentation for new digitalization initiatives
Requirements:
- Candidate must be pursuing a Bachelors in Supply Chain, Business/Data Analytics, Information Systems, Engineering Management, Sustainability / ESG-related studies, Business Administration or related degree
- Students from other majors with strong analytical and organizational skills are encouraged to apply.
- Candidate must have cumulative 3.0 GPA on 4.0 scale
- Candidate must be well‑organized, proactive, and comfortable managing multiple tasks
- Candidate must be curious and eager to learn new systems, processes, and methodologies
- Candidate must be interested in understanding business user needs and translating them into structured solutions
- Candidate must be comfortable working with data and developing insights to support decision‑making
Skills & Experience Preferred, but not required:
- Strong Excel skills; familiarity with PowerBI is a plus
- Interest in data analytics, process improvement, or digital tools
- Basic understanding of or willingness to learn agile or product management concepts
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders
