ECU Functional HiL Validation Engineer (2023)

This position involves being a part of the application team to define, create, and execute software function tests related to customer specific requirements. The position also involves working with a customer application team to define test plans and gather results for a given customer milestone. The candidate should have strong teamwork and communication skills and be comfortable in working within tight timelines.

 

Responsibilities

  • Analyze customer requirements, develop test plans, ensure all features are validated.
  • Work with lead test engineer on validation strategy based on the changes to the software and customer functional/feature growth chart.
  • Design and develop automated test profiles, manual test profiles based on system feature design.
  • Troubleshoot & debug failures with the technical team to determine the root cause and corrective actions.
  • Support development and maintain test systems – Vector based HiL’s to support feature-based testing.
  • Train & mentor team members on feature testing.
  • Manage test plans, test deliverables and work with cross functional teams on improving test coverage by conducting technical reviews.

 Job Requirements:

 Required Skills:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience with automotive testing
  • Experience with Vector CANtech products (CANoe, CANalyzer, CANape, TAE, vTEST studio, CAN Diva, Vector VT) 
  • Experience with scripting language with Vector products (CAPL), Python
  • Experience in automotive serial communication protocols (CAN, CAN FD, FLEXRAY, SENT, I2C, SPI)
  • Experience in functional testing, core feature testing, Systems testing, serial communication, vehicle messaging and diagnostic service implementation & testing, functional bootloader testing, Physical layer testing
  • Experience with evaluation of requirements for the purpose of testability.
  • Experience with lab equipment (Oscilloscopes, debuggers, logic analyzers, etc)
  • Experience with embedded control modules / microcontrollers, electrical circuit design, embedded software (C and assembly language)
  • Experience with formal problem-solving skills(Fishbone analysis, etc)
  • Excellent debug / troubleshooting skills
  • Support internal and external meetings (with customers) for test plans, test failure, issue root-cause analysis and corrective action
  • Ability to work within and outside formal processes
  • Proficient with Microsoft products (Excel, Word, Visio, Project, etc)
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills. Strong teamwork and leadership skills

 

 Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with Vector, dSPACE, Labview / National Instruments hardware.
  • Experience with Matlab / Simulink.
  • Prior experience with requirements management tools (i.e. IBM DOORs, DNG)
  • Hardware / circuit skills – ability to read and understand basic schematics
  • Use of debuggers or in-circuit emulators, logic analyzers
  • Working knowledge about RTC, RQM

 

 Education: BSEE/BSCE/BSCS/BSECE required
