Electric and Electronic Hardware Engineer
Missions:
- Responsible for coordination of ECU integration activities for EPS product applications
Key responsibilities and authorities:
- Employee’s awareness of their impact on product quality and the importance of their activities in achieving, maintaining, and improving quality, including customer requirements and the risks involved for the customer with non-conforming product.
EPDT leader role (EPDT: Electric Product Development team)
- Chair EPDT with other ES / SE (Electronic Systems / System Engineering) team members
- Owner of EE (Electric & Electronic) Hardware (HW) development activities
- Create and/or maintain all applicable controller specifications for application projects
- Maintain a Controller development project timeline for assigned applications.
- Controller assembly drawing release
- Complete all required program documentation including DFMEA’s, Design Reviews, Gate Reviews, Customer Documentation, etc.
- Complete all process related documentation including EN (Engineering Notice), DCP (Design Change Process), ECR (Engineering Change request), cost requests, 5 Phases, Engineering Permits, etc.
- Coordinate with EPDT Software for integration activities
- Hardware Responsibilities
- Manage controller drawing(s) release

- Layout / schematics
- CCA (Circuit Card Assembly), BOM, controller asm., etc

- Interface with EPS Power Pack group
- Coordinate planning & execution of controller validation
- Validation / prototyping
- Link with DRE (Design Responsible Engineer) to assure flawless system build
- Assure appropriate EE HW availability for all functional groups and development milestones (EE, System, Power Pack integration, Prototypes, DV, PV…)
- Track controller validation activities
- Report validation issues to the PDT/Customer as required
- Coordinate and track electrical system level verification and validation activities (Short/Open Testing, FTP status, etc.). Evaluate results and drive non-conformances to closure.
Customer Interface role
- Assure flawless interface between customer and core EE hardware group during all stages of a program.
- Obtain customer concurrence with Nexteer EPDT plan at all expected milestones (design freeze, definition of validation process)
- Customer specification analysis and tracking
- Customer change EE HW management
- Track customer HW change request and help sales to quote the changes
- Track, analyze and document EE HW issues outlined by customer
Qualifications required:
I Education:
- Engineering degree in appropriate field
II Experience:
- Experience in Embedded system design and development
- Experience with 8-bit, 16-bit or 32-bit microcontrollers.
III Skills:
Required Skills
- Educational focus in design/development of electrical systems in EE hardware.
- Proficient with automotive communication protocols (CAN, LIN, Flexray)
- Proficient with basic tools that apply to CAN networks.
- Proficient written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Excellent communication / interpersonal skills and strong willingness to operate in a multi-cultural environment / with remote locations
- Proficient with Microsoft office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Project)
- Languages: English & French mandatory
Preferred
- Familiarity with standard automotive development processes (APQP, PPAP).
- Familiarity with Hardware in the loop test set-up
- Microsoft .Net, LabVIEW, Visio, database (SQL) experience.
- Automotive experience (OEM and / or tier1)
