The objective of the Student Programs at Nexteer Automotive is to select students with high potential and provide them with "real world" work experiences. Work assignments expose students to many of the company’s products, processes and procedures. Assignments are designed to assimilate acquired classroom education with actual hands-on work experience in a technical environment. In addition, Nexteer Automotive gains the opportunity to find new talent to enhance productivity while providing students exposure to full-time career opportunities.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Compiling and analyzing technical data from testing of Nexteer products
  • Design, develop, troubleshoot, and implementation of an electrical/software-based system
  • Create presentations to communicate test findings using Excel and PowerPoint
  • Support Engineers on processing and reviewing data
  • Continuous improvement activities with sensor, powerpack, and test production processes
  • Coordinate with Validation Engineers for timely completion of development and validation activity
  • Regular contact with others outside the work group
  • Work with hand tools and test equipment to complete experimental testing
  • Coordinate with vendors and internal customers


Jobs will vary dependent upon intern, supervisor and company needs. 



  • Must be attending a 4-year university
  • Must have a 2.7 GPA on a 4.0 scale
  • Must be studying Bachelor's in Engineering: 
    • Electrical, Computer, and Computer Science
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and documentation
  • High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult
  • High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others
  • Knowledge product design process and/or tooling and manufacturing processes preferred
  • Technical knowledge of mechanical principles
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects and coordinate multiple activities
  • Demonstrated commitment to a disciplined approach on projects
  • Good oral & written skills
  • Knowledge / Expertise in the following:  Microsoft Office Excel and PowerPoint
  • Candidate must have right to work in US and not require current or future sponsorship
