The objective of the Student Programs at Nexteer Automotive is to select students with high potential and provide them with "real world" work experiences. Work assignments expose students to many of the company’s products, processes and procedures. Assignments are designed to assimilate acquired classroom education with actual hands-on work experience in a technical environment. In addition, Nexteer Automotive gains the opportunity to find new talent to enhance productivity while providing students exposure to full-time career opportunities.
This is a Student Co-op position located in Saginaw, MI. The Student Assistant will support daily administrative operations, facilities coordination, run meetings, and event activities across multiple departments. This role requires strong organization, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with staff, visitors, leadership, and the Facilities team.
Administrative Support:
- Perform general administrative tasks, including organizing, data entry, and miscellaneous office assignments as needed.
- Run meetings such as change boards
- Update and maintain cube numbers, nameplates, and workspace labels
- Submit, monitor, and follow up on ServiceNow requests on behalf of employees.
- Assist with preparing and submitting expense reports.
- Coordinate customer and visitor requests, including processing badge access and ensuring proper onboarding of guests.
- Complete Chemical Request Forms as required.
- Assist other administrative staff with projects, time-sensitive tasks, and ongoing departmental needs.
- Support the Employee of the Month program through preparation, coordination, and material organization.
- Create, distribute, and collect surveys for internal groups when needed.
- Ensure the supply cabinet remains organized, properly stocked, and inventoried; replenish items as needed and notify staff when supplies are low.
- Schedule and coordinate 1:1 meetings for managers, ensuring accurate calendar management and timely communication.
- Serve as a daily point of contact for employees by answering questions, providing guidance, helping individuals find resources or locations, and assisting with frequent walk-up inquiries. This role requires adaptability, as responsibilities and priorities can change day-to-day.
- Maintain and update meeting agenda, and organize all related presentation materials and files within Microsoft Teams
- Run Power BI reports and perform data analysis to support engineering managers
- Handles Michigan M-late, tabs, insurance, and coordination with the engineering garage and engineers to ensure compliance with regulations
- Support the processing of purchase orders and invoices to ensure accuracy and timely completion for engineering team
Facilities & Workspace Coordination:
- Organize and put away departmental supplies to maintain a clean and efficient workspace.
- Pick up packages from Plant 3 and/or receive indirect material deliveries, ensuring items reach the correct departments or individuals.
- Assist in coordinating seating moves by working directly with the Facilities team to ensure accuracy and smooth execution.
- Unlock conference rooms and verify that meeting spaces are prepared for scheduled activities.
- Support workspace transitions by verifying readiness, relocating materials, and communicating updates to employees.
Event Support:
- Assist with planning and executing multiple group events, including onsite functions such as the Tech Conference.
- Help set up and clean up catered lunches, departmental meetings, and employee events.
- Coordinate logistics, supplies, and materials for events, recognition activities, and team-wide gatherings.
- Support scholarship-related activities in June by assisting leadership with documentation, organization, and preparation.
Facility Care & Errands:
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in break rooms on both the 1st and 2nd floors

Requirements:
- Candidate must be attending a 2-year college or 4-year university local to Saginaw
- Candidate must be pursuing a Bachelors in Business
- Candidate must be able to work 20-32 hours, onsite, during Fall and Winter semesters
- Up to 40 in the summer
- Must have cumulative 2.7 GPA on 4.0 scale
- Must be a full-time student (12 or more credits) during Fall and Winter semesters
- Proficient with Microsoft office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
