The objective of the Student Programs at Nexteer Automotive is to select students with high potential and provide them with "real world" work experiences. Work assignments expose students to many of the company’s products, processes and procedures. Assignments are designed to assimilate acquired classroom education with actual hands-on work experience in a technical environment. In addition, Nexteer Automotive gains the opportunity to find new talent to enhance productivity while providing students exposure to full-time career opportunities.

 

 Job Description:

  • This diverse role will cover a variety of simulation electrical activities in the Electrical Power Steering core engineering department related to the design of motors, circuit boards, headers, housings, and magnets.
  • Enhance Nexteer’s simulation capability through new model creation, correlation of test results to model prediction, and advancement in the modeling of mainly electrical but related thermal, mechanical, and co-simulation models of critical electromechanical components.
  • Assist senior experienced engineers, on a variety of tasks as required, while being mentored and coached through engineering experiences.
  • Hands-on involvement in production and prototype assembly/disassembly processes as part of facilitating testing, simulation, and development work as needed.
  • Assist in co-op targeted special company activities as needed.
  • Learn organization and project management skills, that work across diverse distributed teams, to accomplish significant engineering objectives now and for the rest of your engineering career.

 

Job Requirements:

  • Candidates must be currently enrolled in a 2-year college or 4-year university degree program.
  • Must be pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Engineering (electrical, mechanical, robotics, engineering technology), Physics (Physics, Applied Physics, Engineering Physics) or related disciplines.
  • Students must be full-time, taking 12 credit hours or more during both the Fall and Winter semesters.
  • A minimum GPA of 2.7 on a 4.0 scale is required.
  • Candidates must have the ability to work 20-32 hours per week during the Fall/Winter semesters, and up to 40 hours per week during the summer.
  • Flexible scheduling is preferred.
  • Candidates must be willing to work onsite as needed in Saginaw, Michigan.
  • Candidate must have right to work in the US and not require current or future sponsorship
