Cost Leader - Column Pursuits (2019)

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead global pursuit activities for new business and answer global cost requests.
  • Develop the Costbook, jointly with regional support, for all global pursuits.
  • Obtain approval (informal or formal) from Commodity Managers for components for each specified commodity.
  • Support the Business Team to explain the details and the potential risks associated with the Costbook.
  • Support the Bill of Material (BOM) Risk Assessment, so the launching organization understands the Costbook and supplier assumptions.
  • Support Launch Leaders in program initiation related to Costbook definition and understanding of currency exposure and material economic assumptions.
  • Manage the Capital forecasts for global pursuits or any production change capital investment required.
  • Submit/Receive Request For Quotes (RFQs) for new components/sub-assemblies for design provided by engineering.
  • Work with Value Enhancement Managers to obtain Cost Breakdown models to complete pursuit ECRs
  • Load Part Management Database for Early Supplier Selection components to expedite nomination and development
  • Manage information flow from engineering and sales to the global GSM Cost team.
  • Coordinate with futures engineering Global Supply Management for technology considerations for future pursuit opportunities.
  • Challenge Commodity Managers and engineering for cost competitive and efficient designs/processes as part of the Matched Pair process.
  • Aid in the strategic evaluation of potential suppliers and facilitate early supplier involvement.
  • Participate in core and non-core training to increase personal development.
  • Support implementation and development of Commodity Strategy initiatives.
  • Communicate program capacity requirements to purchasing team for pursuits

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Degree:       Bachelors

Major:          Manufacturing, Engineering, Operations

           

  • Steering Columns or Electric Steering experience, preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the automotive industry with experience in designing or manufacturing products
  • Background in cost modeling methods, preferred
  • Engineering, Operations, or Program Management experiences preferred.
  • Excellent at Microsoft Excel and Power Point.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent to work effectively with others in a Multicultural environment.
  • Self driven and motivated leadership and organization skills.
  • Exhibit the willingness to take measured risks with limited information and limited time.
  • Ability to read blueprints and assess manufacturing feasibility.
  • Knowledge of commodities, materials and products being purchased.
  • High analytical ability in complex situations.

 

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Speaking & Listening: Communicate with work team and customers with the ability to understand, remember and apply both oral and written instructions
  • Sitting/Standing/Walking: Occasionally perform tasks while sitting, standing, and walking up to 100% of the time
  • Carrying: The employee will need to carry a laptop case or backpack with computer while traveling
