About the Role:
Nexteer seeks a Director of Supplier Quality and Development to join our team. This person is responsible for all facets of the US supplier quality and development function including strategic planning, execution, measurement and administration of quality systems and controls.
Key Responsibilities
As the Director of Supplier Quality and Development, you will be responsible to:
- Responsible for supervising, developing, staffing and managing the U.S. Supplier Quality organization
- Lead efforts to resolve poor supplier performance
- Oversee the supplier quality team, ensuring collaboration for supplier-caused quality issue resolution and shared lessons learned
- Create a high performing culture within the supplier quality group
- Oversee the development and coordination of training for Nexteer’s direct material suppliers
- Drive quality improvement efforts
- Create and deploy quality systems and tools to facilitate world-class quality performance
- Represent senior leadership with customers to review issues, provide feedback and provide permanent corrective action
- Develop and communicate a quality strategic plan that will continuously improve the performance of the business
- Facilitate quality deep dives with regional leadership to create visibility and implement corrective actions on top business and quality issues
- Develop a robust and effective quality and warranty system across global products
- Lead the supplier quality improvement efforts to achieve high quality performance from suppliers who provide direct materials to manufacturing plants
- Support sales and engineering by resolving top quality issues in the field for improved customer experience and loyalty
- Collaborate with operational functions to troubleshoot manufacturing and production defects and customer complaints
- Discuss quality-related issues with regulators and monitor compliance
- Formulate and recommend QA, QC, and validation policies and programs
- Develop departmental budget for quality assurance, validation and quality control, including defining materials, equipment and personnel needs
Qualifications
- Minimum of 10 years of quality experience
- Minimum 5 years supervisory experience
- Ability to lead supplier quality improvement efforts and drive best practices across multiple locations
- Demonstrated leadership in organizational skills, project planning, team building, Six Sigma/DMAIC problem solving and experience and knowledge with world class quality systems
- Demonstrated team building and leadership skills. Solid understanding of engineering technical issues/needs, financial, sales, and marketing as related to quality
- Manufacturing process or design knowledge in some of the following: ferrous castings, die castings, tubing, stamping, manufacturing and assembly, plastics and rubber manufacturing, machined parts, electrical/electronics
- High level of interpersonal skills to effectively lead, motivate and facilitate others in group situations and instruct others in new techniques
- Availability to travel domestic and internationally
- Strong operation skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong acumen for finance and business statistics
Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business or Engineering required, Master’s degree preferred.
