The objective of the Student Programs at Nexteer Automotive is to select students with high potential and provide them with "real world" work experiences. Work assignments expose students to many of the company’s products, processes, procedures, problems, resources, staff areas and people so that they become aware of the career opportunities at Nexteer Automotive. Assignments are designed to assimilate acquired classroom education with actual hands-on work experience in a technical environment. In addition, Nexteer Automotive gains the opportunity to find new talent to enhance productivity.


Job Description: 

Job includes mechanical trouble shooting of warranty return parts with many levels of complexity. Analysis needs to be well documented in our database. Other types of duties could include helping with shipping and receiving of various types of materials, testing components, meeting with customers, delivering or picking up material. Some parts can be heavy and dirty, must not be afraid to perform physical labor to limited degree.


Job Requirements:


  • Pursuing Bachelor of Electrical Engineering
  • Full time student at SVSU, UM -Flint,or Delta
    • If enrolled at Delta, must be part of ACE Co-op Program
    • If enrolled at SVSU, must be part of SVSU Co-op Program through Cardinal Career Network
  • Ability to work 20 - 32 hours per week during the school year
  • Minimum cumulative GPA: 2.7 on a 4.0 scale
  • Must maintain full time credits (12 credit hours) fall and winter semesters
  • Candidate must be able to work in the US without current or future sponsorship


Special Skill Requirements: Knowledge of basic mechanical engineering principles and computer skills (i.e. Microsoft Office, Word, Powerpoint…)
