Nexteer Automotive is looking for a technically skilled and highly focused individual who enjoys developing & integrating electrical components into a mechatronic system. The focus of this position is to lead the elicitation of customer requirements and collaborate with the organization to have them understood by sub-system teams in order to develop a design proposal. The Electrical Pursuit Engineer will then lead technical discussions concerning the selected electrical design with the customer. This opportunity requires daily customer interactions, so excellent technical communication skills are necessary. This position works in a team environment in the New Business Development area leading the pursuit activities for Nexteer’s Electric Power Steering Systems interacting with both internal and external customers to ensure deadlines are met and requirement evaluations are completed. In addition to the customer interface work, the position will require development of new technology & demonstrations of those new designs to find a solution that can meet performance expectations at the lowest cost. Candidates have the opportunity to be on the front lines in securing new business world-wide for Nexteer utilizing communication, program management, analytical and hands on skills.

The ideal candidate possesses good communication skills, excellent problem-solving techniques, good organization and documentation abilities, knowledge of system synthesis, analysis and verification techniques and a general competency and experience in vehicle dynamics, mechanical systems, electronic systems, and computer hardware and software.


Job Description:

This position is located in Saginaw, Michigan and offers a hybrid work schedule 

Lead/optimize/track cross-functional efforts to develop technical solutions that meet pursuit imperatives (technical, commercial, timing, etc)

Lead electrical design / hardware definition of the Powerpack controller assembly

Develop the required mechanization specification for the Powerpack controller assembly

Develop the required mechanization, Electrical Pursuit Program and eBOM specifications for the Powerpack controller assembly

Support electrical design / hardware definition of the Torque / Position sensor assembly.

Lead requirement assessment and specification management

Lead mechatronic requirement assessment and specification management

Work closely with Systems Pursuit Engineer to offer Nexteer customer’s a seamless, cohesive pursuit proposal

Lead and negotiate technical solution proposals to Nexteer customers

Actively coordinate / interface with the powerpack architecture and core groups.

Apply new architecture exited technologies and ideas within EPS

Stay abreast of new Steering technologies

Provides technical direction to support architecture, core and application teams

Assist in designing and building EPS steering solutions for target demonstration vehicles

Validate and test design concepts

Diagnoses and corrects deficiencies


Job Requirements:

Experience in electrical hardware design and analysis (Preferred)

General understanding in System approach including motors, controllers, sensors, and software (Preferred)

General understanding of vehicle ride dynamics (Preferred)

Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (Preferred)

Familiarity with manufacturing processes and controls (Preferred)

General understanding of Nexteer products (Preferred)


Education and Experience:

Bachelor (Masters Preferred) - Engineering

Minimum of 1 years of relevant experience
