The objective of the Student Programs at Nexteer Automotive is to select students with high potential and provide them with "real world" work experiences. Work assignments expose students to many of the company’s products, processes and procedures. Assignments are designed to assimilate acquired classroom education with actual hands-on work experience in a technical environment. In addition, Nexteer Automotive gains the opportunity to find new talent to enhance productivity while providing students exposure to full-time career opportunities.

 

Job Requisition Introductory Paragraph:

This position will allow the Student to understand and appreciate the Software Development activities involved in an Embedded System for an Automotive domain, where system timing and performance are crucial. Students will get an opportunity to develop automotive functionalities using C programming language on AUTOSAR based architecture, automation tools and scripting languages. They may also get an opportunity to work on Customer programs and define innovative approaches that improves the efficiency and productivity of the team. 

 

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Job efficiency is an important aspect in the automotive field. One mechanism for better efficiency is better tools for engineers. Deliverable for this Job would be automation tools which helps in simplifying a complex process/manually intensive process and also assist in quality improvement of the work-products.
  • Testing is a critical part of engineering. As part of this, various aspects of the software must be analyzed, and appropriate tests need to be designed/executed to confirm compliance to the requirements.
  • Prototyping is a useful tool to quickly convert ideas into software and verify accuracy of the solution. The task here would be to prepare Prototype software in Embedded/Application domain using C language or any scripting language and test out solutions.

 

Requirements:

  • Candidate must be attending a 4-year university local to Saginaw
  • Candidate must be pursuing a Bachelors in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science
  • Candidate must be highly motivated, organized, have experience in MS tools and have strong computer skills
    • C language skill is required
  • Candidate must be able to work 20-32 hours during Fall and Winter semesters
    • Up to 40 in the summer
  • Must have cumulative 2.7 GPA on 4.0 scale
  • Must be a full-time student (12 or more credits) during Fall and Winter semesters
  • Candidate must have right to work in the US and not require current or future sponsorship.
