Nexteer Automotive is looking for a Global Supply Chain specialist who can hit the ground running and thrive at the intersection of the automotive and electronics industries.  In this position, the candidate will be responsible for monitoring the demand/supply balance of Tier 3 electrical subcomponents primarily used for Electric Power Steering (EPS) assemblies, mobilize the enterprise to deal with shortages and allocate globally to ensure continuity of production for Tier 2 suppliers, Nexteer plants, and our OEM customers.  The ideal candidate will have broad knowledge of supply chain, manufacturing, and engineering processes and procedures.  Additionally, strong problem-solving skills, knowledge of lean practices, and inventory control is critical.  The Nexteer Automotive global supply chain for electronic subcomponents operates at a fast pace and this position requires an energetic individual who can proactively engage with individuals across functional, geographic, cultural, and enterprise boundaries to communicate and resolve complex problems.


Job Description:

  • Monitor demand / supply balance of Tier 3 electronic subcomponents, mobilize the enterprise to deal with shortages and allocate globally to ensure continuity of production for Tier 2 suppliers and all Nexteer plants
  • Allocate material in short supply to Tier 2 suppliers and/or Nexteer operations as required
  • Work with Engineering, Nexteer plants, GSM, and Tier N suppliers to manage design changes consistent with extensive lead time requirements
  • Support Nexteer plants to minimize inventory carrying cost, premium freight, expediting cost, E&O and cancellation cost related to electronics
  • Communicate long term forecasts to the Tier 3 suppliers to ensure proper capacity is in place and that demand signals are aligned with Nexteer requirements throughout the supply chain
  • Participate in development and implementation of multi-tier supply chain planning system


Job Requirements:

  • Requires Bachelor's degree in supply chain, business or related field
  • 2+ years of relevant experience preferred 
  • Knowledge of PC&L processes in Nexteer QAD system preferred
  • Ability to work with multiple tiers of suppliers and globally distributed Nexteer Production Control and Logistics (PC&L) representatives under stressful conditions 
  • Must be able to deal with ambiguity; can effectively cope with change; can shift gears comfortably; can decide and act without having the total picture; can comfortably handle risk and uncertainty.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills along with knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel & PowerPoint) 
  • Must be able and willing to work outside traditional schedule to deal with emergencies and connect with suppliers / Nexteer plants around the world
  • Strong organization and time management skills
  • Knowledge of electronic subcomponent and electronic system (i.e. EPS) function and assembly preferred
  • Plant PC&L experience preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of information systems preferred (i.e. Siemens TeamCenter, Power BI, data management, etc.)
