The objective of the Student Programs at Nexteer Automotive is to select students with high potential and provide them with "real world" work experiences. Work assignments expose students to many of the company’s products, processes and procedures. Assignments are designed to assimilate acquired classroom education with actual hands-on work experience in a technical environment. In addition, Nexteer Automotive gains the opportunity to find new talent to enhance productivity while providing students exposure to full-time career opportunities.

 

Job Requisition Introductory Paragraph:

This position will allow the student to assist our Nexteer business customers in review and resolution of reported technology problems. The position may include documenting installation and support processes for new software as well as maintaining existing support documentation, as necessary. In addition, learning low-code development in the Microsoft 365 (M365) space. There may also be time dedicated to learning the Microsoft Power Platform of tools. In this position, the student will have the opportunity to work with upper-level management to enhance their leadership skills. The student will also be asked to complete other miscellaneous tasks as they arise. 

 

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist supervisor in any administrative work
  • Identify solutions, research answers and troubleshoot technical issues and questions
  • Guide employees through corrective steps and recommend devices, updates and techniques
  • Triage and escalate incidents, support and service requests within our IT Service Management tool (help desk solution)
  • Keep knowledge articles, websites, media players and other references up to date
  • Follow up and provide feedback on incident progress, pending updates and statuses
  • Participate in on the job learning opportunities and building personal networks
  • Refine documentation and processes by reviewing metrics and knowledge articles
  • Continuous improvement and documentation of Technology center processes, communications and practices
  • Create new and/or enhance existing computer applications, programs, spreadsheets, databases, etc. to compile information and generate reports of department metrics

 

Requirements:

  • Candidate must be attending a 2-year college or 4-year university local to Saginaw
  • Candidate must be pursuing a Bachelor of Science in the field of Information Technology or related discipline
  • Must be a full-time student (12 or more credits) during Fall and Winter semesters
  • Candidate must have a cumulative 3.0 GPA on 4.0 scale
  • Candidate must be able to work 20-32 hours during Fall and Winter semesters
    • Up to 40 in the summer
  • Candidate must have right to work in the US and not require current or future sponsorship
