We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled co-op student to support our department in a variety of administrative and analytical tasks. This role will assist the Audit Results Analyst (ARA) with completing change notice documentation audits to ensure consistent presentation and compliance with established standards. The ideal candidate will enhance and maintain computer applications, spreadsheets, and databases to standardize information and generate departmental metric reports. Responsibilities also include monitoring and reporting performance against key metrics, as well as providing administrative support to the supervisor as needed. This position offers a great opportunity to contribute to process improvement and data integrity within a dynamic team environment.
Student Program:
The objective of the Student Programs at Nexteer Automotive is to select students with high potential and provide them with "real world" work experiences. Work assignments expose students to many of the company’s products, processes, and procedures. Assignments are designed to assimilate acquired classroom education with actual hands-on work experience in a technical environment. In addition, Nexteer Automotive gains the opportunity to find new talent to enhance productivity while providing students exposure to full-time career opportunities.
Job Description:
This position will allow the student to assist with supporting manufacturing operations by maintaining process documentation and participating in continuous improvement activities. The student would reside and work in Plant 3, where Rack Electric Power Steering gears are produced for original equipment manufacturers.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
- Assist in developing and maintaining plant floor layouts
- Participate in lean manufacturing continuous improvement efforts
- Conduct Time Studies
- Conduct Downtime Analysis
- Pareto Analysis
- Update work instructions for manufacturing operations
- Update visual aids for manufacturing operations
- Generate power point presentations
- Assist supervisor in any administrative work

Requirements:
- Candidate must be attending a 4-year university local to Saginaw
- Candidate must be studying engineering in pursuit of a bachelor’s degree
- Mechanical preferred
- Candidate must be able to work 20-32 hours during Fall and Winter semesters
- Up to 40 in the summer
- Must have cumulative 2.7 GPA on 4.0 scale
- Must be a full-time student (12 or more credits) during Fall and Winter semesters
- Candidate must be able to work onsite in Saginaw, MI
- Candidate must have right to work in the US and not require current or future sponsorship
