The objective of the Student Programs at Nexteer Automotive is to select students with high potential and provide them with "real world" work experiences. Work assignments expose students to many of the company’s products, processes and procedures. Assignments are designed to assimilate acquired classroom education with actual hands-on work experience in a technical environment. Our Research and Development team is looking for a self-motivated and inquisitive individual for a technology development and innovation role. The candidate should possess good attention to detail, be creative, possess good time management skills and have strong interpersonal skills. This position is in research and development group, responsible for circuit design, board layout, testing and debug of new technologies for power electronics circuits, embedded systems, and sensors.
Job Description:
- Acquire, build, and test prototype parts i.e., electric motors, sensors, controllers, circuit boards and wire harnesses for bench/dyno/vehicle usage.
- Developing test plans, validation setup and verification criteria for electrical components and circuits.
- Hands-on construction, testing and debug of new electrical hardware to demonstrate and evaluate new technologies for both bench level and vehicle level systems
- Perform electrical tests involving any combination of electric motors, sensor, controllers, etc.
- Assisting engineers with project duties.
Job Requirements:
- Candidate must be attending a 4-year university local to Saginaw
- Candidate must be pursuing a Bachelors in Electrical Engineering
- Strong desire to learn new skills.
- Proficient with MS office, computer savvy, and ability to do hands on work
- Ability to work 20 - 32 hours per week during the school year
- Up to 40 during the Summer
- Must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA: 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
- Must maintain full time credits (12 credit hours) fall and winter semesters
- Must be able to lift 25+ lbs of lab equipment
- Good communication and computer skills
- Candidate will be expected to work onsite in Saginaw
- Candidate must have right to work in the US and not require current or future sponsorship
