The objective of the Student Programs at Nexteer Automotive is to select students with high potential and provide them with "real world" work experiences. Work assignments expose students to many of the company’s products, processes, procedures, problems, resources, staff areas and people so that they become aware of the career opportunities at Nexteer Automotive. Assignments are designed to assimilate acquired classroom education with actual hands-on work experience in a technical environment. In addition, Nexteer Automotive gains the opportunity to find new talent to enhance productivity.

Job Requisition Introductory Paragraph:

This position will allow the Student to work with Engineers in our Core Engineering group on development projects for our REPS product line. The position could include performing test on individual parts to full EPS systems, CAD work for test fixture and/or development parts, data analysis, and root cause problem solving.  In this position, the Student will have the opportunity to work with many different groups within Nexteer that will provide a broad work experience.  Student would be asked to complete other miscellaneous tasks as they arise. 

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Support Engineers in gathering, processing, and reviewing data
  • Work with hand tools and test equipment to complete experimental testing
  • Create presentations to communicate test findings using Excel and PowerPoint
  • Coordinate with Validation Engineers for timely completion of development and validation activity
  • Timely communication of project status and relevant issues
  • Build products with attention to detail in setting all assembly specifications
  • Regular contact with others outside the work group
  • Coordinate with vendors and internal customers



  • Candidate must be attending a 2-year college or 4-year university local to Saginaw
  • Candidate must be studying Mechanical Engineering
  • Candidate must be able to work 20-32 hours during Fall and Winter semesters
    • Up to 40 in the summer
  • Must have cumulative 2.7 GPA
  • Must be a full-time student (12 or more credits)
  • Candidate must have right to work in the US and not require current or future sponsorship
