About the Role:
Nexteer is looking for a qualified candidate to join our team as a Senior Manufacturing Engineer and play a key role in advancing automotive steering technologies. This position focuses on Columns, Intermediate Shafts (I-Shafts), Column Intermediate Shafts (CIS), and Hand Wheel Actuators (HWA). We are looking for an experienced engineer with strong technical expertise and proven problem-solving skills to drive process improvements and support new product launches.
Key Responsibilities
As the Senior Manufacturing Engineer, you will be responsible to:
- Lead engineering projects for Manual & Power Columns, I-Shaft, and Hand Wheel Actuator manufacturing processes.
- Develop and optimize production methods to improve efficiency, quality, and cost.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve technical challenges.
- Implement root cause analysis and corrective actions for process issues.
- Support new product launches and ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using structured problem-solving methodologies.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in automotive manufacturing with a focus on Columns, CIS, I-Shaft, and knowledge of Hand Wheel Actuators.
- Strong knowledge of machining, assembly, and material processes.
- Proven experience with problem-solving tools: Six Sigma / Lean Manufacturing, PFMEA, and Control Plans.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Six Sigma Green Belt (or higher)
- Additional Lean/Continuous Improvement certifications preferred
- Experience with automation and robotics manufacturing preferred
- Knowledge of GD&T and automotive quality standards (IATF 16949) preferred
- Proficiency in CAD and manufacturing simulation tools preferred
Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or related field
