The objective of the Student Programs at Nexteer Automotive is to select students with high potential and provide them with "real world" work experiences. Work assignments expose students to many of the company’s products, processes and procedures. Assignments are designed to assimilate acquired classroom education with actual hands-on work experience in a technical environment. In addition, Nexteer Automotive gains the opportunity to find new talent to enhance productivity while providing students exposure to full-time career opportunities.

Job Requisition Introductory Paragraph:

This is a Student Co-op position located in Saginaw, MI.  This position supports the Global Steering Core and Architecture activities in advancing Product Line Engineering (PLE) practices. The student will play a key role in helping roll out the PLE tools across multiple engineering disciplines. This includes collaborating with hardware, electrical, software, and systems requirements, architecture and verification teams to develop variant feature models, apply configuration restrictions and constraints, in support of requirements, architecture and verification artifact management tools suite.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including hardware, electrical, software, and systems engineering to support the implementation of the Pure Variant PLE tool.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining variant feature models that define product variability and configuration logic.
  • Apply restriction attributes to requirements and other artifacts and tools to ensure accurate product assets output, according to selected configuration.
  • Contribute to the development and documentation of PLE processes that guide how engineering teams interact with and benefit from the tool.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance tool usability and integration across disciplines.
  • Gain exposure to systems engineering practices and product lifecycle management within a global automotive environment.

 

Requirements:

  • Candidate must be attending a 2-year college or 4-year university local to Saginaw
  • Candidate must be at least a sophomore equivalent level
  • Candidate must be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably in Electrical, Mechanical, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or similar disciplines.
  • Candidate must be able to work 20-32 hours during Fall and Winter semesters
    • Up to 40 in the summer
  • Must have cumulative 2.7 GPA on 4.0 scale
  • Must be a full-time student (12 or more credits) during Fall and Winter semesters
  • Candidate must be proficient with Microsoft Products (Office 365, Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
  • Candidate must have excellent Communication, Documentation Skills and attention to detail
  • Candidate must have the right to work in the US and not require current or future sponsorship
