TITLE: System Safety Engineer


DUTIES: Independently execute system safety activities for assigned projects related to Electric Power Steering; specifically Ford programs; Independently develop safety requirements at multiple levels; Independently execute Safety Analysis such as FTA, FMEDA, and FMEA; Independently develop, document, and execute bench and vehicle test procedures including fault injection testing; Perform vehicle level safety testing to comprehend safety goal and hazard analysis risk assessment items; Work with senior safety engineer(s) to assess impact of single and dual point faults; Assess PMHF (probabilistic metric for hardware failure) for assigned programs; Assess SPFM (single point fault metric) for assigned programs; and Asses LFM (latent fault metric) and related impact for assigned programs.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Physics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, or Electronics Engineering and two years of experience in the job offered or related. Experience must include: experience with automotive engineering and chassis systems; experience with understanding and application of ISO26262, IEC 61508 or similar; experience with spreadsheets and simulation tool; and experience with automotive embedded systems, hardware, and/or software.
