The objective of the Student Programs at Nexteer Automotive is to select students with high potential and provide them with "real world" work experiences. Work assignments expose students to many of the company’s products, processes and procedures. Assignments are designed to assimilate acquired classroom education with actual hands-on work experience in a technical environment. In addition, Nexteer Automotive gains the opportunity to find new talent to enhance productivity while providing students exposure to full-time career opportunities.


Job Requisition Introductory Paragraph:

This position will allow the Student to assist with analyzing, interpreting and expressing specification data necessary for the procuring, scheduling, manufacturing, merchandising, servicing and reporting of certain vehicle components within the Product Engineering department. The student will be expected to write a variety of technical requirements, articles, reports, and/or manuals for documentation for a wide range of uses. The student may be responsible for coordinating the display of graphics and the production of the document. The student will also coordinate discussions on requirements compliance, engineering peer reviews, and management level status updates. Student may be involved in other miscellaneous tasks as they arise with direction from his/her supervisor.


Skills Required:

  • Interpersonal skills to work effectively with others.
  • Understanding of basic mechanical concepts.
  • Ability to interpret drawings, layouts and graphic illustrations.
  • Understanding of basic data processing concepts.
  • Exceptional organizational skills.
  • Analytical ability where problems are complex.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and preferably DOORS.



  • Candidate must be attending a 2 year college or a 4 year university local to Saginaw
    • Candidate must be able to work in the Saginaw office once per week (minimum)
  • Candidate must be pursuing a Bachelors in English, Communications, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline
    • Sophomore/Junior class standing preferred
  • Candidate must be able to work 20-32 hours during Fall and Winter semesters
    • Up to 40 in the summer
  • Must have cumulative 2.7 GPA on 4.0 scale
  • Must be a full-time student (12 or more credits) during Fall and Winter semesters
  • Candidate must have right to work in the US and not require current or future sponsorship
