Validation Engineer - Virtual Validation- Auburn Hills (2023)

Nexteer Automotive is looking for a Virtual Validation Engineer with a diverse skill set who enjoys validating steering components and software, using virtual tools for software-in-the-loop methodology.  The Virtual V&V Engineer will work cross functionally with multiple internal teams (ie software, requirements, mechanical, validation, safety) to successfully take a build from concept to production. Success involves technical knowledge and the ability to function across a diverse project team. Understanding of systems engineering processes is preferable. 



  • System testing and verification activities
  • Application and SW integration testing
  • Functional safety test simulation, fault injection methodologies, safety analysis using virtual models
  • Design and develop methodology to create application of virtual tools for verification and validation
  • Test case development and creation of test plan for virtual simulation
  • To debug and diagnose anomalies, issues, faults, instabilities
  • Work with function owners to resolve functional problems
  • Work with system engineers to collect data for model correlation and validation
  • Work with cross functional teams to aid SW validation
  • Stays abreast with new technology


Required Skills:

  • Experience in Systems Engineering and automotive V&V
  • Proficient in modeling and simulation with Matlab/Simulink
  • Experience with model-based design, model-in-the-loop testing
  • Experience with automotive/steering functional safety testing and analysis
  • Competency in mechanical systems, electronic systems, electrical hardware, software, and automotive systems
  • Familiarity with configuration management tools
  • Good organization and documentation abilities


Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with System level testing on HIL platforms
  • Experience with dSPACE toolchains like Control desk /Automation desk/System desk or any other HIL toolchains
  • Experience with ISO26262 or similar, FMEA tools
  • Experience with Virtual-ECU (V-ECU Level 1-4) validation


Education and Experience:

Masters in Electrical, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering or a Bachelor’s in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with 2+ years of experience
